Biosystems Mechanical Engineering major
Biosystems Engineering is a field of applied engineering on the development and production of necessary technologies and facilities in the fields of biology, energy and environment, and food, combining natural science and engineering technologies. This major aims to foster advanced human resources that can contribute to the development of next-generation bioindustry, energy, environment and food sectors by applying various engineering knowledge and natural science technologies to the field of biosystem. It contributes to the development of mechanization and automation for efficient biological production, and is a promising engineering field that can contribute to social development by developing and providing various engineering technologies required in food processing, environment improvement and renewable energy fields in line with the social interest and development of food and energy environment.
Food Biotechnology major
As an advanced biotechnology field in the 21st century it teaches and develops as follow. Based on the professional theory and the technology of the use of food and bio-materials, the research and development of high value-added industrialization technologies focusing on the development of functional foods using a wide range of biological resources, including microorganisms and plants, the exploration of new materials using advanced bio-engineering technologies, the development of efficient separation and purification technology of bioactive substance, the development of optimization technologies to secure the economic feasibility of the production process, the development of functional foods and efficiency verification for nutritional enhancement of food, the establishment of system to secure microbial and chemical safety of food and bio materials, and so on.
